I, myself have been working on kits for Quincy and I both and a plan for when it happens. I've been building three 5 gallon buckets that are water proof. One has food, water and personal stuff for myself.
A second has what I'll call hardware incl. duct tape, emerge shelter, emerge sleeping bag, small crow bar, leather gloves, wind up flash light with radio, helmet, safety vest, stove & fuel, liners for the pail if it becomes a toilet, garbage bags, 50' rope, first aid kit & manual (should I be injured needing someone to help :) ), a bit of cash, contact phone numbers, matches, candles & there's room for more.
Quincy's pail so far has the following; 5 lb bag of food, treats, a few can of wet dog food, a leash, collar with ID tags, harness, booties (if we need to walk to somewhere safe I want her paws protected), a high vis vest, muzzle (one that allows her to pant and drink in), a toy, water, collapsable bowl, first aid kit, medication for her cholitis should stress trigger it and a DAP collar (to perhaps calm her).
