I pack a tie out cord for her to use at the site, set up to reach the tent door usually from the picnic table.
Her soft kennel (aka the box) and the tie out are the first things set up and the last to come down. Giving her a clean safe place to hang out as I build or dismantle the tent etc.

Camping with your dog can be a lot of fun but it does take a lot of planning. For example, the shopping trip for food and such happens a day or two before you go (without the dog). Researching your campsite, are dogs aloud on the beach and trails? Leashed or off leash. Where is your dog going to sleep? Are they safe from racoons or bears in their sleeping area, will they bark all night or rest at all. Quincy sleeps in the tent with me and is pretty calm.

Now, we all know that you're going to have to go into a store for something you forgot or ice even. I solve this with a remote car starter and AC. I run the AC on the way to the store, park, restart the truck and it's set to give me ten minutes running time. It's like a pop cycle in there when I get back.

Any other tricks out there you'd like to share?

"I attended the March 06, 2021 K9ABCs first aid course run by Laurie. Excellent presentation of the material - Laurie is an amazing teacher combining the book material with personal experience both as a paramedic and as a dog lover. What stood out for me was the dog 'Annie': a rubber dog to practice all the handling skills needed for an emergency - CPR, assisted breathing, pulse check. Class was run in a highly professional manner with love an care for animals exuding at all times. All of it with COVID restrictions in place and well observed. Thank you Laurie, I'll be back for refreshers when time comes." Violeta Toma, 2021
